Drawing on more than three decades of experience and longevity, Western Agency serves the farm community by offering products that meet all of your coverage needs. From farm property and liability to crop and hail insurance – Western Agency has the ideal skills and best companies to cover your property – no matter how complex your operation.
Western Agency currently insures over 900 farms across North and South Dakota. We have partnerships with the highest-rated independent insurance companies in the country. What does this mean for you? Every farm in the region has different insurance needs. By having a stable slate of companies available, we can match your operation and needs to the company that best fits you.
We begin by sitting down with you at your farm. We evaluate your equipment, buildings, vehicles, recreational vehicles, GPS equipment, and anything that needs coverage for physical damage. We look at your needs for spray drift coverage, pollution and liability umbrellas – to name a few. Once a comprehensive policy is developed, our agents will review your policy with you annually to make sure your coverage is correct.
Because all agents offer the same product in the Federal Crop Insurance Program, it’s a common misconception that an agent’s skill, service and experience are irrelevant. Nothing can be further from the truth. The difference between a good agent and a bad one could mean tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on your claim. When you work with our agents, you’re receiving optimum coverage, unmatched experience and the best service the industry offers.
Unlike other agents, Western Agency does not ask our customers to do our work. We meet with you in person to gather acreage and production information. We don’t expect you to complete the crop insurance forms like many other agents do. We also send our reminders about important dates and changes so you are always informed about important issues in crop insurance.
Western Agency reviews your proven yields in detail to maximize your coverage. Then, before sales closing, we meet to determine which plans and levels provide the most value to your specific situation. Western Agency also has a dedicated, well-educated and trained staff of crop insurance analysts who work 100 percent in the Federal Crop Insurance Program. Our job is to make sure our customer’s polices are in the best shape possible.
Western Agency writes a large amount of commercial business in Central North Dakota. While we concentrate on Contractors, Contract Bonds, Municipal Insurance, Churches, and Manufacturing, we also insure many other types of commercial insurance.
Unlike other agencies, our team will tell you in advance if we will be good at your type of risk. Furthermore, if we feel your business is one where we will not be able to give you top-flight service, we will tell you in advance and suggest a better agency for you.
Your commercial operation is most likely constantly changing and, of course, as it changes so do your insurance needs. We do a complete yearly audit of your operation to be sure we are giving you the coverage you need.

When it comes to covering your personal assets, you'll want to consider several aspects of your coverage including your home, autos, recreational vehicles (e.g., jet skis, boats, snow mobiles), guns, jewelry and life insurance. In many cases, you can purchase an umbrella policy to ensure all aspects of your personal assets are covered.
Umbrella insurance is designed to provide added liability protection above and beyond the limits on homeowners, auto, and watercraft personal insurance policies. With an umbrella policy, depending on the insurance company, one can add an additional 1-5 million in liability protection. This protection is designed to "kick-in" when the liability on other current policies has been exhausted.
Liability insurance is the portion of a homeowners or auto policy that pays for expenses such as the injured persons medical bills, rehabilitative therapy, and lost wages due to the negligence of the at fault person. The liability portion of an insurance policy also covers a legal defense representative if the negligence would happen to land the at fault person in the court room.
